Spanish Reds, Beyond Tempranillo

Don’t get me wrong… I LOVE Tempranillo. But Spain has so much more to offer than the traditional Riojas and Ribera del Dueros that fill our supermarket shelves and standard restaurant wine menus. From the light, low-alcohol red wines of the Basque country to the bold Monastrell wines in Murcia, the high-altitude Grenache in Campo de Borja to the steep hillsides of Priorat that produce some of the most complex red blends, Spanish red wines are diverse, lively, and approachable to the modern wine drinker.
